HKE is a collaborative relationship between three recent graduates of BA Hons Photography at London College of Communication, which is part of the University of the Arts London. Hayley Hunter, Katie Haddow and Emma Figuero first came together for an Alcohol Awareness Campaign in their second year. The successful completion of this campaign led to them teaming up again for their next project, a Problem Gambling Awareness Campaign targeted at serving members of the British Army.
